Cupping

Our Cupping practitioners are  Karen deWeerdt and Sarah Hill.

Cupping is an alternative therapy that uses suction cups to stimulate your skin and muscles. The suction promotes increased blood circulation, which may help relieve muscle tension, promote cell repair, and aid in other regeneration. Different applications of cupping can be used depending on each individuals needs such as:

Myofascial cupping - which is gentle cupping that glides on the skin. Some cream/moisturiser is applied to the area to help with the glide, this type of cupping usually doesn't leave any marks.

Static cupping - Static cups are applied to the affected area with twice the amount of suction and these cups don't move, they stay in position for no more than 8 minutes. This will leave marks on the affected area due to superficial capillaries bursting and will fade over a week or so.

Functional release cupping - Incorporating dynamic movement and stretches of particular areas of the body where the static cups are placed. Whether it be lower back/glutes or neck and upper back, the possibilities are endless! Functional Cupping works to relieve and restore movement restrictions and areas of pain.

Massage and cupping go hand in hand, as massage is pressing into the body, and cupping has negative pressure, lifting the superficial layers to create extra blood flow to the area. This brings fresh nutrients to the soft tissues and helps to promote healing!

Cupping can be booked online or over the phone or can be added as an inclusion to a remedial massage session with any of our cupping practitioners. Cupping can be used at any stage during treatment if needed. Feel free to discuss at any time with your therapist.
